Officials with the Sheriff’s Office said resident Lorinda Parker reported that the home was on fire and that there were two other people inside that she couldn’t get out.
Lorinda broke out a bedroom window to get out.
Several fire companies responded.
Firefighters found the bodies of 78-year-old Loretta Parker and 59-year-old Teresa Parker in the house.
Deputies and a North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation agent are investigating the cause of the blaze.
Officials say initial findings point to the fire starting in the kitchen where someone was cooking.
It also looks like attempts were made to put out the fire, but didn’t work.
Sheriff Derrick Palmer stated “I want to express our deepest sympathies during this time of loss. Our thoughts and prayers go out the family and loved ones of the deceased. I also want to thank Valleytown Fire Department, Murphy Fire Department, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and the Andrews Police Department for all the assistance in this very sad matter.”
The sheriff also says if you have any information on this case, to call 9-1-1, the anonymous tip line at 828-837-1344 or email a tip to email@example.com.
