Employees told firefighters they heard an explosion and then saw a fire erupt around the dust collection system.
The employees were all evacuated.
Eight fire companies responded and found the fire rapidly spreading and even breaking through the roof.
Firefighters got the fire under control in about 45 minutes.
Plant employees said the main material that caught on fire was starch. It’s used to make Life Savers and other products.
No one was injured.
The plant manager said it will take a while to assess the damage at the plant and determine if operations will be affected.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
