Last week, the Chattanooga Mocs picked up their first win of the season. With that first win under their belts, this week’s open date for UTC came at a good time as they get ready for SoCon play. The Mocs spent the extra week getting ready to host Samford at Finley Stadium on Saturday night. Last year’s 17-14 overtime loss against the Bulldogs was likely the nail in UTC’s playoff coffin.
After two heartbreaking losses against Central Michigan and Jacksonville St. to start the season, UTC head coach Russ Huesman thinks finally getting in the win column was big for the Mocs confidence going forward.
"I don’t think any doubt crept in to their minds about how good a football team we have. I think they know that we’ve got good players, but you just need that win to make you feel better about all the hard work you’ve put into this thing, and I think getting that win helped our psyche in the fact it is nice to get a win."
Kickoff for UTC’s SoCon opener at Finley is 7pm on Saturday.
