The Donor Appreciation Day featured special prizes, food and recognition to the area’s top donors.
Officials say the donors are heroes to the hospital patients in need of blood.
So the staff simply wanted to say thank you.
It also helps get attention during the normally slow summer months.
Lacey Wilson serves as Blood Assurance Marketing Manager. She explained, "The summer time is a tough time for us just because we have fewer blood drives at places like schools and things of that nature so people are out of town, they’re not necessarily thinking about donating blood. But the need for blood never takes a holiday. Hospitals still rely on us to provide the blood they need for their local patients."
Other Blood Assurance locations will be holding donor appreciation days in the future.
