Just before midnight on Saturday, McMinn County Sheriff Joe Guy sent out a Crime Alert warning people in Englewood of a shooting and possible stabbing.
When they responded the Englewood Package store, they found one man shot.
"Bill Haney the owner of the business was shot several time, was able to relate to me a suspect," said Sheriff Guy.
The suspect named was Bobby Russell.
While officials worked that crime scene, they were dispatched to another violent crime. Bill Culberson was found shot to death in his driveway.
Sheriff Guy said they immediately found the connect with the two victims and the suspect.
"About 40 years ago they had a business transaction over the Englewood Package store."
It’s something one resident, James Smith, said he would have never seen coming.
"It’s really devastated me because I just think man this is right here under my doorstep," said Smith.
The package store is behind his home and he said the whole scene made him uncomfortable.
"You don’t feel safe," Smith said. "In fact, I came in and got my pistol and slept with it in the my hand."
Smith added once he found out who was involved he couldn’t believe what he heard.
"That really shocked me when I thought them three of all people would have any kind of altercation like that."
Bobby Russell did turn himself in to authorities and is charged with First Degree Murder and Attempted First Degree Murder. He even gave a motive for his crimes.
Sheriff Guy said, "Seemed to imply that it had something to do with that 40-year-old business deal."
Sheriff Guy told News 12 that the first victim, Bill Haney, is in serious conditions, but is recovering.
Bobby Russell is in jail on a $150,000 bond.
