Who are the groups that claim that pit bulls are great?

Very easy. The BREEDERS and DOG FIGHTERS. They don't want regulation of these dogs because they make a LOT OF MONEY breeding, selling, and fighting them.

All the pit bull people have the same propaganda about how "loving" pit bulls are.

However, pit bulls are number one on the list for KILLING PEOPLE.

No surprise, because pit bulls are bred to be aggressive and have been for hundreds of years.

I have had a few pit bulls and each of them were just the most loving dogs I have ever had. I would not own anything but a pit bull. I baby my dogs and keep them in the house. I don't keep them on a chain or anything, and they have free roam of my house. Currently I have a pit bull and a mastiff. Both dogs are big, strong, protective and very loyal. With this said though, the dogs best friend is my 7 pound cat. All three of them cuddle, watch out for each other, and will groom each other. I never showed my dogs aggression towards other animals or people and I can honestly say that if you walked into my house you can bet on death by licking and slobber, not an attack. I wish people would be responsible with their dogs and quit giving people like me a bad name. You have to treat pit bulls like kids. They need attention, exercise, love, proper food and most of all, a positive environment. Not one that is full of screaming and fighting.

These dogs are very dangerous when I was 15 years old my best friend got a brother and sister full blooded pits as pups we played with them as pups was around them every day was good to them treated them like they were my own more less we babied them all the time talk sweet to them then when they were a little over a year old I went to my buddies house and the dogs were chained up with a small chain they both broke there chains and came and attacked me for no reason biting me visciousley the sister in turn was trying to get her brother off of me I had blood running from my legs and arms the male jumped up and tried to get my throat and i blocked him from that so he got my arm at the shoulder bringing blood there also i started kicking at him and hit her then she turned on me biting me also i knew these to dogs @ a very young age but that didnt matter to them never mean to them to make a long story short the law wanted to kill them but I said no I was at there house in the day time so they told the owner to chain them up and not let them loose under no circumstances then 4 months later an old man next door 82 years old was out looking at his cattle and the dogs broke there cables and went and attacked him tore the left side of his face off almost killed him plastic surgerie required to fix him the man was in the hospital a couple weeks just for looking at his cattle on his own land these dogs have been treated very well so with that said if a pit is in my yard it is a dead pit i will kill every one that i see on my land they are not welcome around me or my family I hate to be that way but i wished thay were all killed to wouldent hurt my feelings at all no pit is trust worthy in my opion kill them all.

Pit bulls are by far the nicest dog ive ever meet! People who keep pit bulls chained up are the problem!!! Thats how they become mean, people are sooooo stupid. Like pits are the problem, pssh its the people who fight them and give them a bad rep. Why don't you try putting them people to jail insted of banning the whole breed!!!! Ok we can use the 3 time bite rule on ANY BREED OF DOG, but that does not count if the dog is defending the owner, house, its self. I have the most prettiest pit mix youve ever seen, shes sweet and everything! I'd never give her up because of the gay ass law, screw that, most 90% of people who have pit bulls as pets are gonna say their the sweetest dog they've ever owned! Because they are!!! The law is soooo damn ignorent today it aint even funny!!!

Don't ban Pit Bulls.
so many people have loving, harmless Pit Bulls.
Usually, Pits only bit or attack to save their owner.
So that means the person should leave the pit bull alone.
Don't ban those doggs, because they give as much love as any other dog.

This is nuts . This is a wonderful breed and they are extremely loyal to humans. It is not the breed that is bad ....but the majority of idiots who want to own this breed are not wanting them for good reasons ...which is why they are made vicious and unpredictable . Responsible owners everywhere own these dogs and they are wonderful loving pets . They would never hurt anyone or anything and are a true example of the breed . Some are therapy dogs , Search and Rescue dogs , Agility dogs ...etc Why dont we try to figure out a way to ban the bad owners ....why punish the wonderful families that love and cherish their dogs ...its just not fair . If you ban the Pit Bull those trashy irresponsible owners will just go after another breed to fight and make vicious . So then eventually i guess all breeds will be banned HUH ? When i was a vet tech I was bitten in the throat by an English Setter . When i was 3 i was attacked violently by 2 Schnuazers . I have dealt with rescueing over 200 Rottweilers , Pit Bulls and Dobermans among other breeds from shelters, neglectful homes, etc for the last 6 years and have NEVER been bitten by any of them . When they are in the right hands and trained and socialized properly they will obey and act as any other family pet . Put any dog in the wrong hands and it can be made into a monster . Please reconsider banning this loyal breed . Let's figure out another way so the responsible owners dont have to suffer for the irresponsible owner's actions . Here are some of the faces we have saved and rehomed . The Rottweiler is our personal family pet and i will never live without one in my home .

I and many members of my family have owned pit bulls (along with other breeds of dogs) over the years, and we only had a problem with one of the pits. However, it was not the only breed of dog we had a problem with. Three of the pits were very affectionate, even to the point of riding our little ones on their backs. They were very protective dogs, also. We raised our dogs to BE PETS, not fighters, or to be mean. My family believes it is all in the way you raise a dog, no matter what the breed. I know some people who have the meanest little ankle biters alive, that will bite you "just because". I DO believe in the leash law, and believe that it should be enforced, but to actually ban a particular breed of dog? I don't believe that is constitutional. I think owners should be held responsible for their pets' behavior.

There are other options, there are no bad breeds, just bad owners!!!!!

Is it me or are politicians lazy and ignorant? They create leash laws but do nothing to enforce them!They realize how big of an effort it will take so they just make a new law that sounds easier to enforce.Why not ban alcohol or firearms?How many people are injured or killed every day from these two things?The answer is zero!People hurt and kill people!For the people who want to ban alcohol and/or guns,it'll never happen because they are taxable!If all pit bulls were gone,what would happen?The dog fighters will just find another breed to use.They don't care about the breed,just fighting and gambling.Why not just ban stupid people?Make everyone take an i.q. test and kill the people who get low scores.Might as well kill all the mean people also!That just sounds like a stupid law does'nt it?It's also stupid to exterminate a certain breed of dog.

this is just another action that the government has taken that infringes upon our rights as citizens, responsible owners are not to blame majority of the people that speak about pitbull attacks haven't ever came into contact with them they have just heard stories and rumors there is no such thing as a steel jock or a lock....there jaw is not any different than any other dog.....this is ludacris....remember the world is flat not round!!!!

thank the good lord these dogs are very dangerous it has been proved and studied something clicks in thier brain and thier is no stopping them on what thier focused to attack ipray every day walker county gets a law like this the pit bulls beside my house jump thier kennal fence i have never seen a dog that could jump that high i have to sit outside with my grand children ages 3&4 with a shot gun so they can play on swingset pitbull has come in my yard after me chased me to my prh from my car u never know when their out they also came in our garage and attacked our jack russell put him in mouth and shaked like a rag doll people who own these dogs should take alot of caution and have alot of insurance now what kind of a breed is this when u have to carry insurance on them where is every bodys sign they are alot of chidren dyingbecause of these dogs checks statistics its the gods honest truth now u shouldnt compare this breed with any other this dog could kill any breed put in pen with them that should be enough for alaw passed

I do not agree with the banning of the pitbull breed. This is not the only breed that has attacked humans in the past, there many other breeds that have, and are not punished or discriminated. Any dog, of any size, or breed can buy or attack, so why don't we banned all dogs? I am a pitbull owner and have been for the past 12 years. This dogs are very important to our family and most of all our children. The dogs are not to blame for anything but instead blame the humans(the rational beings) behind the animal.

Cite your source. You are pepetuating rumors as there is no science that backs up this hysteria.

It's terrible when people are hurt by dogs. But pit bulls have been around for decades. What has changed? As soon as you can accurately answer that question you will be on your way to finding a solution to the problem.

Right now you are reacting and not doing anyone any good.

The guy at the shop traded in his pit bulls for dobermans. Forecasted results:

1. He bought two puppies at the same time, he will not have time to train/socialize both dogs.
2. He does not plan to train/socialize both dogs, just leave them on the property, fenced in, to "guard".
3. THESE dogs will now become territorial and aggressive to strangers, because that's what happens when you chain or fence a dog in and do not socialize them.
4. Someone breaks in at night and the dobermans bite the intruder.
5. Some crazy politician decides it's NOW time to ban dobermans because...LOOK! they are vicious dogs!
6. So the guy at the shop dumps the dobermans (or has them euthanized) and goes out and buys two German Shepherd Dogs.
7. Are you following the program here?

"enforcing the leash law" and "banning pit bulls" is not the same thing.

Why is it when officials can't figure out how to enforce one law (the leash law) they just drum up another law? Why not enforce the leash law and pick up the strays rather than going house to house and picking up the dogs who are at home and well-behaved?

Why punish the people who do not let their dogs roam?

And the answer isn't to "add more breeds" to the ban, the answer is to craft a dangerous dog law which does not specify breeds so that all dog owners can be held accountable if they raise a dog in a way that makes the dog a danger. Dogs are not born dangerous, they are made dangerous by people! And the law should not punish the dog (because dogs can't read!) the law should punish the owner. Severely. Meaning large monetary fines and jail time.
