What's Right with Our Schools

For musicians, and singers, it doesn't get any bigger than playing at Carnegie Hall.

Now, members of the Soddy Daisy choir will get to perform at the historic New York music hall next April.

But first, they have to raise the money for the trip.

WDEF News 12's Chief Photographer David Moore shows us how far the choir has come, and what they still have to do before the trip.

Twice a year, Dalton police take over the classroom at the high school to review the consequences of driving drunk.

The plan involves a unique hands on approach that puts students in the shoes of a drunk driver.

Every year, students get pounded with the message to stay away from drugs, tobacco, and alcohol.  But, when it comes to healthy living, they find the message about diet and exercise lacking.  At Hixson Middle, some students took it upon themselves to change that.

Dozens of local students find out that art is not a boring subject.

They're creating their own short movies, by using cameras, computers, and their own imaginations at Ivy Academy.

Kids in elementary school often can't wait until recess.

But getting outside and playing can sometimes be tough for special needs students.

But at Spring Creek elementary, that's not a problem anymore, thanks to a brand new playground.
