A release Friday night from the Electric Power Board about the lawsuit filed against their Fiber Plan today by a Cable Association.
The Tennessee Cable Telecommunications Association has announced that they have filed a lawsuit against EPB.
The suit was filed Friday in Davidson County, two business days before the Chattanooga City Council is scheduled to vote on the initiative.
“This lawsuit is clearly an effort by the Cable Association to limit the choices available to people in the Chattanooga area”, said Harold DePriest, EPB’s President and CEO.
“More choices available to citizens in this area mean less money for the cable companies. It is not surprising that the Cable Association is opposed to the prospect of losing customers.”
EPB has conducted open meetings and made their Fiber to the Home business plan available for public review.
The next step in the approval process involves a vote by Chattanooga City Council, planned for September 25.
EPB encourages all citizens to let their City Council representative know how they feel about the plan.
The utility plans to fight the lawsuit and move forward to bring a “Fiber to the Home” infrastructure to the Chattanooga area as planned.
