Survivor returns to WDEF News 12 this week with an Asian theme. This year, the cast of 16 will be marooned at two separate island in China. All this week, leading up to the premiere, we'll introduce us to some players from our region, beginning with someone from Nashville.
Erik Huffman knows what its like to be the center of attention. The 26 year old musician from Nashville plays bass guitar and sings in the group Florez. Huffman hopes the title of his next hit will be "How I Won A Million Dollars," as he competes against 15 other foes on Survivor: China. "What's going to hurt me is i'm in decisive at times, I know I'm going to be forced to make quick decisions whether it be, I'll be fine in the challenge stuff, but when people confront me, I'm a very diplomatic person."
Huffman could skate under the radar. He doesn't expect to lose his temper and, as he does in everyday life, he plans to take small, managable steps... "Not putting myself too far out there, just enough to not be risky, but I think this is going to be a huge leap for me."
Huffman expects to play the mediator in his tribe, but may stop short of resolving every conflict between his fellow castaways. "If its to my advantage to let the two people duke it out as far as the game goes, then I'll just stay out of it and let them beat each other up and make themselves look bad."
Huffman believes his faith will keep him strong and focused for the hardships that lie ahead.
