Children's Advocacy CenterThe Children's Advocacy Center of Hamilton County held an open house today as part of child abuse prevention month.
The center provides free counseling, medical exams and other services. Statistics show one in four children will be abused before their eighteenth birthday. Advocates say they treat almost 800 children each year. Many of them have suffered severe physical and sexual abuse.
Jennifer Mitchell, Executive Director of Children's Advocacy Center says she's noticed some troubling trends, "Perpetrators are getting even younger in age, which we're trying to do some research on that and see how we can intervene, the second trend is the level of severity is getting worse, that may be a result of society, what we see on TV what music the teens listen to."
