Amusement parks around the country are opening their gates to vacationing families and one congressman has a concern about safety.
Representative Edward Markey is calling attention to a loophole that prohibits federal safety oversight of rides that are permanently located at amusement parks.
Markey wants to pass the National Amusement Park Ride Safety Act, which would close the loophole.
Represenative Markey was joined by 14-year-old Kaitlyn Lassiter. Her feet were severed last June due to a malfunction on the "Superman Tower of Power" ride at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom.
