Cleveland Trash Collection Not Changing

hhhhhhh [0]Cleveland Residents don't have to worry about higher garbage bills.

Tuesday the city council rescinded a vote to employ a new "fully automated" garbage collection service.

The new service "Santek" would require residents to use a specific, large plastic trash can.

A robotic crane on a truck would then pick up the can every week.

But Mayor Tom Rowland says some elderly residents complained the trash bins would be to heavy to move.

Rising gas prices were also a concern he says.

"One complaint we had was it would use double gasoline, because each truck would have to go twice on the same street, because the mechanical arm only comes off on one side," says Rowland.

Cleveland will remain contracted with "Waste Connections" through the end of the year.
