The NAACP says racism is still alive in America. The group speaks out after a noose was found late last month at a Cleveland YMCA. This incident follows several other highly publicized noose displays around the nation.
The NACCP says the display represents the lynching of African Americans back in the early 1900s. Here at home, an employee at the Cleveland Y admitted to making and leaving a noose in the recreation area. An African American worker found the display. The lifeguard and two other people who knew of the incident have since been fired. Bradley County's NAACP chapter learned of the incident Friday and earlier today thanked the Y for their prompt actions regarding the incident. As for the reason the Y employee hung the noose, the NAACP thinks it could have been racially motivated and also part of a halloween prank.
