An environmental partnership between a Whitfield County agency and Dalton chemical company will turn landfill gas into power.
The Dalton-Whitfield Solid Waste Authority and Dow Chemical broke ground on a gas processing system.
The system takes landfill gas to formĀ renewable energy for the chemical plant.
Executive Director Norman Barashick says the set-up results in a win-win for all parties involved.
"It does provide a local renewable source of renewable energy, we're able to utilize this gas in a beneficial way it reduces the emissions to the atmosphere."
A total of sixty wells at the Old Dixie Highway landfill make up the system.
