Four Soldiers based in Dalton return to town for the first time since being injured in combat.

The Wounded Warriors with Charlie Troop recalled their brush with death in Afghanistan.

Just months ago four local soldiers were among the thousands of U.S. Troops fighting in Afghanistan.

Mayor David Pennington, "Thank you all." (applause)

But in May and August, Sergeant Jeff Boyles, Specialist Andrew Sullens and Specialist Nate Watson became wounded warriors.

SFC Jeff Boyles, "When it hit coming down is when I felt my back break."

Sergent Boyles and Specialist Sullens were in a 7 vehicle convoy when they got hit by an improvised explosive device.

It injured five men and killed a nearby civilian.

Spc. Andrew Sullens, "It tore into our Humvee it blew through the bottom of the Humvee brew straight through it. I was in the gunners chair. It threw me out of the gunners chair. I landed about 30, 25 to 40 feet away from the Humvee in the street."

Specialist Watson got shot in the arm during a 25 minute fire fight. He and his fellow soldiers got ambushed.

Spc. Nate Watson, "It's amazing all the bullets that were flying around me that I only got hit with one of them. Hundreds maybe even thousands of rounds flying through the air and I got hit in the arm it could've been a lot worse."

The men suffered serious injuries for which they're still getting therapy.

As they give thanks for the gift of life, their thoughts remain with their fellow soldiers in Charlie Troop still waging war in Afghanistan.

SFC Boyles, "Whatever reasons we joined were our own but when we're there the reason we fight so hard and do so well is because of the men on our left and the men on our right."

The soldiers are in town for the rest of the week on a Wounded Warriors tour.

They will be the grand marshals for Dalton's Veterans Day Parade Saturday.
