Will Rockslide Affect Next Spring's Rafting Season on the Ocoee?

The cleanup is still in the preliminary stages at the rockslide on Highway 64.
Today crews continued to survey the site and cleared vegetation.
But white water rafters are wondering how the slide will hurt their business.
You can see from the aerial photos that the slide continued past the road and down to the river.
In the process, it wiped out the load-in ramp for the rafters.
The slide happened right at the dam where most of the rafters begin their white water adventure on the Ocoee.
The Polk County News reports that rafting companies are worried that the ramp won't be repaired in time for the beginning of their season next spring.
TDOT officials say the ramp is on their repair list.
But it will be tough getting equipment down to it once the road is fixed.

Hwy 64 Rocklside

RAFTERS!!! What about all of the people on the east side that have jobs down past the rockslide and have drive almost 2 hours not everyday just to get to work. WHOSE IS LOOKING OUT FOR THOSE PEOPLE? PEOPLE ON THE EAST SIDE ARE SURE THAT THEY WILL HAVE THE ROAD FIXED TO ALL THOSE RAFTERS!!

Rock Slide

Is it possible get federal grant money to fix this for the upcoming rafting season? You know, like how we bailed out all of the banks, after them mismanaging their money??? This is a natural disaster, and thousands of jobs will be affected by this. WHERE IS OBAMA?????
What are these people thinking???? Corador K, thats great, why didn't you spend all that money on that instead of widening Hwy 64. Where it didn't need to be widened. Now, who is going to look after the rafting companies, Dwayne Bunch???
Come on Dwayne, work for your money!!!!
Help us rafters out!!
