Whitfield County Needs Residents To Help Name Roads

Some Whitfield County property owners get the chance to help name their road.

Anyone who lives on a private driveway shared between three structures qualifies.

There are a few stipulations - Roads can't be named after a living person, no rhyming names and no duplicate names.

This is part of the address location project to help emergency workers find a house faster.

Jess Hansen, GIS Coodinator says, "They [Emergency crews] would pull up that private drive and there would be half a dozen houses up that private drive and unless the house was on fire, it was hard to determine which house to go to."

A map showing the roads that need naming will be posted at the Administration Building #1 on Crawford Street.

Residents can submit their suggestions thru Saturday.
