It may come as no surprise that your marital status can affect your weight. A lot of people gain weight after marriage.
And many lose weight after becoming divorced or widowed. Now, we know weight gain can lead to sickness and death but weight *loss* can be an equally serious problem. A look at 15 years of national survey data revealed losing a spouse can lead to long-lasting weight loss. Doctors want the newly widowed or divorced to keep that in mind. They might need to make an effort to avoid weight loss. And don't be afraid to seek help from friends or even health professionals.
It's perfectly normal to feel lost and alone after losing a spouse through divorce or death. So don't hesitate to get help to stay safe and healthy.
