Update on Two Teen Runaways Killed in Chase

The foster parent of one of two teenagers killed last night in a police chase says the girls only knew each other for a few weeks.

But they apparently formed a bond.

16-year old Teri Stanford and 17-year old Natasha Carter both ran away from foster homes in Winchester, Tennessee in a Jeep they stole from a neighbor.

Police in South Pittsburg pursued them, and the girls slammed into a pickup truck on top of Sand Mountain in Rainsville.

Both girls died, and the driver they hit has a long recovery ahead for him.

Dale Jones/Victim's Friend: "He broke his left ankle and his knees and went in to have surgery.  They already put a cast on his right leg and his left arm is broke and his collar bone's broke.  His sternum was cracked. So he's got some major problems to get through over these next months to heal and to get back in operation."

Family members of one of the girls left a message on our website saying they don't blame any of the officers involved in the chase for the crash.
