kHaz-mat crews spent much of the afternoon cleaning up a section of I-75 after a tractor trailer jackknifed on an off-ramp.

A witness saw the truck driver lose control and steer the rig off the Enterprise South exit.

The trailer slid across a guardrail before coming to a stop down a steep slope.

The driver apparently suffered a medical emergency.

He was taken to Erlanger where his condition is not known.

Firefighters discovered the trailer was carrying containers of paint and a couple of other chemicals.

Bruce Garner, Chattanooga FD PIO adds, "So they're digging a trench around the rig in case a lot of the chemical starts spilling out. It's basically an effort to keep the contamination to the environment to a minimum."

Chattanooga police will investigate the exact cause of the accident.
