The Terminal Brew House is the Sure Cure for Post Holiday Boredom

With the holidays behind us you might be thinking you'll have to wait until spring for anything new...well nothing could be further from the truth. At a time when most establishments are scaling down the owners of The Hair of the Dog Pub are poised to welcome in their newest and grandest creation...The Terminal Brew house. "We are the funky pie-shaped building right on Market across from the Clarke Brothers building"-Matt Lewis, Co-Owner. That's right now the south side has its own neighborhood pub... and the Terminal Brew House lives up to its billing. After 2 years of heavy construction on a condemned building owners Matt Lewis, Geoff Tarr, and Ryan Chilcoate have brought this, the southside's 1st brewery, to life. And we were lucky enough to get a sneak peak before the Terminal opens to the public. The terminal isn't just a local watering hole... This place is a state of the art brewing facility with six different beers ready to flow from the taps. Brew master Steve Purdie gave us a tour of the brewing facility and let us in on some secrets to brewing all different types of beer. "What tells the difference between one beer to the next is because of malts that we use. The stout would use more chocolate malt darker malt. The lighter beers use more of the lighter malt, the base malt, which is two rowe, and other lighter malts. It's basically the malts that make the beer. Unless we're talking about an IPA and then it's the hops that define the beer." And with six hand crafted brews to choose from the Terminal has plenty of crafty foods to compliment every taste "The menu is really diverse it's almost hard to describe you know, and I guess that's kind of the trend for American restaurants. There's no specific ethnicity to it. But what we tried to capitalize was traditional pub food, but a little more up scale. It's deferentially a place where you can have dinner, you can have date"-Matt Lewis Co-Owner. From steak nachos, fried spinach ravioli, and gourmet pizzas on Neidlove's multi-grain dough the Terminal has it covered. If your passionate about food and of course beer then the Terminal Brew House has just what your pallet is yearning for. In a breathtaking space with an old world feel and plenty of contemporary flair. For WDEF new 12's scenic city scene...I'm Tobias Parrish.
