Swine Flu and School
Comments Below: 0
With kids back in school, the fall weather is just around the corner. And as with the regular flu, federal health officials expect an increase in swine flu when the weather changes.
They have a plan of attack if there's a severe outbreak. It starts with parents. They're urged to check their kids for illness every morning, keeping them home if they have a fever. Schools also need to screen kids as soon as they arrive sending them home immediately if they have symptoms. If a family member is sick, students should stay home for five days. With milder outbreaks similar to this spring's, students and staff with flu-like illness should stay home at least 24 hours.
Doctors suggest getting a flu shot and frequent hand washing to stay safe and healthy.
