Business management student Jennifer Buckner checks out features on the latest VW sedan.
Buckner, "It holds your flash drive, it's got a USB going here, once you get on your media you push the media button and we're jamming to what's on the flash drive."
About 50 students from Chatt State and UTC got behind the wheel of the 2009 Passat CC. VW says the new model should roll out in January.
Volkswagen's Jill Bratina, "It's a beautifully designed exterior and interior, we see it as right before the luxury class and we think it's going to be very appealing based on the stylish design and price."
Many of these students hope to land some type of job with Volkswagen. Jennifer says she was excited to hear VW selected Chattanooga to build its plant.
Buckner, "VW seems like a sturdy company that would have lots of benefits that other companies around here don't offer anymore."
Bratina, "Partnerships like this are just an opportunity to bring our knowledge, the work we do on a day to day basis directly to the students, and hopefully they'll find it interesting and decide to pursue a career."
Even though the plant is still a couple of years away, VW reps say there's a lot going on right now.
Bratina, "The next big event will be the Multi Cultural Chamber of Commerce is hosting a procurement fair on September 25th and we'll be there."
VW will have an information booth for suppliers. They also have an information open house planned in November for potential employees.
