Southern Adventist Students Headed to Afghanistan

A group of Southern Adventist University students head to Afghanistan this summer to make a difference.

It's part of a student run non-profit called Noshaq, Inc.

Next month students will travel to some of the more rural, impoverished areas of the country to start micro-businesses.

Noshaq's founders will sit down with tribal leaders and use local resources and talents.

The goal is to empower communities within the war-torn country to create commerce and a source of income.

Noshaq, Inc. Founder, Luther Whiting says, "They have no exports, they have no economy and their standard of living is incredibly low. So we're going to some of these rural areas, finding products that they can produce, and then export those products to the urban centers within the country."

The first project on the list...A felt rug which villagers can export to Kahbul.
