Rain Halts Work At Enterprise South
Chattanooga's Industrial Development Board will now meet weekly to keep things on track for Volkswagen.
The board got an update from the city engineer on progress at Enterprise South. He says crews had to stop site preparation because of rain. They hope to resume by Thursday or Friday. Much of the work right now is sequential, including the rerouting of a stream. The tight construction schedule does not include inclement weather days.
City Engineer Bill Payne, "That's the way VW requested to manage the project, our initial schedule did have days built in for inclement weather. However they have asked us to set our schedules for all of our contractors, assuming we don't hit those days and if we do we'll make the necessary adjustments."
Some contractors plan to work seven days a week and add night shifts to speed up progress at the site.
