New Food Vendor Regulations To Affect The Chattanooga Market
New Tennessee food vendor regulations taking affect next year will affect the Chattanooga Market.
The new regulations require vendors to operate in a fully enclosed mobile truck or trailer.
Many of the food vendors at the Chattanooga Market now set up serving tables and tents to cook inside which is the current regulation.
Buying a truck or trailer could cost them thousands of dollars.
Chattanooga Market Manager Chris Thomas says losing some of the food vendors could affect the market's weekly income.
Thomas says, "We have a lot of vendors come out every week with a tent and a semi-permanent setting, because we are a semi-permanent event every week, and we're not really sure how that's going to impact us, but since the food is such an important part of our market here, we are very concerned that we may loss some vendors in the future."
He says some vendors plan to purchase the equipment to continue serving at the market.
