Nashville Votes on English Only Amendment

|

Comments Below: 5

Voters are heading to the polls in Nashville for a controversial special election.
It would ban city government from using any language other than English.
The charter amendment was proposed by citizens and is opposed by city leaders.

Gregg Ramos\Nashville Attorney:

"It's so difficult to explain to people and get them to realize that this is so unnecessary. This law has nothing to do with immigration."

Eric Crafton\Nashville City Councilman:

"To me, it's more about saying that English is our language here. We're going to make sure that everybody knows that it's the official language."

Both the Governor and Nashville's Mayor have campaigned against the English only amendment.

"... proposed by citizens

"... proposed by citizens and is opposed by city leaders."

This is the ONLY sentence that needs to be looked at. Is this a democracy? Is this not supposed to be government of the people, for the people and by the people? So who are these smug fools that "oppose" the wish of the people? Either do as THE PEOPLE wish or get the hell out of the office. You are supposed to be a PUBLIC SERVANT -- taht means you are supposed to do as the POEPLE wish.
