Here are the details on the bust: - There are 98-indictments, with 45 people charged with conspiracy to manufacture and distribute over 3-hundred pounds of methamphetamine. - That amount is worth an excess of 17-million dollars. To hear of a drug round up that spans three states (Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia) was news to some people, but it wasn't all together shocking. Resident of Bridgeport, Alabama Elizabeth Cyphers says, "There's labs all around." Bridgeport, Alabama is home to the alleged ring leader of the drug operation, Donald Henson. Having been an addict herself, Elizabeth knows the dangerous effects of drugs. And she's glad to see this large amount of drugs off the street. Cyphers says, "It's going to keep the kids safe...but there's a lot more out there." According to authorities, Henson's operation utilized several people to move equipment and chemicals across state lines for the purpose of making meth. Along with plots to manufacture and distribute the drugs, arrangements were also made with specific businesses including this one in Stevenson, Alabama to sell large quantities of products used to make meth. Police say these businesses sold these products without keeping a record of the sale so they wouldn't get caught. United State Attorney Russ Dedrick says, "The fight against methamphetamines is an on-going battle...and this investigation is just one example of how law enforcement agencies are joining together to wipe out the drug problem in our communities." Police say the amount of meth produced by this organization would have supplied nearly 1 point 7 million people.
