The Memphis-Tennessee football rivalry doesn't have the same bad blood as the Vols-Tigers basketball rivalry. Maybe that's because Tennessee has owned the series.
The Vols are 20-1 lifetime against their cross-state rival.
And they're favored to beat the 2-8 Tigers again by nearly four touchdowns.
No wonder UT scheduled the Tigers for homecoming.
Said Memphis running back Curtis Steele, "We feel like you pick easy teams for your homecoming, and we feel very disrespected by that. Just gives us the motivation to go out there and really beat them."
Said Memphis quarterback Will Hudgens,"It's fun to go up to Knoxville and play. You know you're going to play in front of 100,000 people. Great atmosphere to play in.
It's going to be loud. It's going to be rocking. It's not going to be hard to get up for this game."
Said Memphis head coach Tommy West, "Tennessee is playing with what I think is confidence on both sides of the ball. They're outstanding on defense, and have been from the start of the season. And now their offense has caught up."
