The Tennessee Regulatory Authority wants more people to take advantage of Lifeline and Link-Up.
These are programs that allow everyone on government assistance like food stamps and the National Free School Lunch program to pay less for telephone service. Link-Up cuts the cost of telephone service hook-up in half. Lifeline can reduce your telephone bill by $13.50 a month. These are both federally funded programs. " Some cell phone companies also offer free or reduced-price mobile phones. Call your provider to learn more.

A Right?
Now I have heard it all! The right to a telephone? We certainly live in a very privileged society. I say we take care of actual needs first. Let us help people earn a decent living so they can afford their own food, shelter, and clothing. Then, they can decide on what to spend the rest of thier hard earned money.
