If you've never been tested for HIV now is the time...

June 27th is National HIV Testing Day and the Health Department is urging you to "Know Your Status."

More than 1,000,000 people in American are HIV positive.

The CDC estimates between 25 and 30 percent don't know they're infected.

The Hamilton County Health Department is among many agencies offering free, confidential screenings.

Plus... there's no need for blood and the tests are pain free.

AIDS Outreach Coordinator Tom Rucci says, "The best way of prevention is to find out your HIV status. The only way to find out your HIV status is to be tested."

The Health Department is offering two off site HIV testing events Saturday, June 28th.

From 10:00am until 2:00pm testing and free hotdogs are offered at Whiteside Park.

Testing is also offered from 9:30pm until 12:30am Sunday morning at Alan Gold's.

HIV tests are always free and confidential at the Hamilton Co. Health Department, Chattanooga Cares, and Nancy's House in Cleveland.
