Local Obama Supporters Celebrate Historic Victory
One of the longest contests for the democratic presidential nomination appears to be over. Barack Obama claimed enough delegates tonight be the presumptive nominee. Local Obama supporters celebrate while looking ahead to the big prize...the presidency.
High fives, hugs and handshakes mark a historic moment in American politics. Barack Obama essentially becomes the nation's first African American presidential nominee. Cindy Thomas was one of around 20 supporters from our area who gathered to celebrate. But even as they celebrate they're hard at work, making phone calls to drum up support for their candidate. First time volunteer Jeff Brown says that's what's ahead for him and the rest of these volunteers. He says, "Hamilton county we have to knock on every single door." Democrats hope the party can now move forward with full support behind Obama. Full speed ahead, to the White House "We have to keep doing the same thing we're doing. Keep working keep reaching out to people one person at a time that's how this campaign worked so well to this point," says Brown.
