Some of the top high school basketball players in Chattanooga will soon be competing for a national title.
The Chattanooga Steam 16-and-under team is headed to Orlando on July 26th, where they'll begin play in the Youth Basketball of America Nationals.
According to coach Jim Frazier, the Steam have a 36-2 record, and they've
won five of the six tournaments they have entered.
Last year, the Steam finished in the top five at the Y-B-O-A nationals.
Said Travis Core of Dade County,"You're playing against the top notch people in the whole nation. And you're keeping up with them. Playing against them and just playing basketball. It's so much fun."
Said Chad Lee of McCallie, "I think we're going to be one of the favorites,
if not the favorite going down there. Everybody down there should know that we're a good team, and that we come to play." Some of the other team members are Kelvin Clay and Nick Ross of Red Bank, and Randy Boyd of Hixson just to mention a few.
