India: Baby Trapped in Well Rescued

Soldiers have rescued a two-year-old girl who spent 27 hours trapped in a
narrow well in India.

You can see a man here carrying the girl, as soldiers surround them.

She is now in the hospital being checked out.

The Army dug a pit parallel to the well, then carved a tunnel to reach the girl and bring her out.

The girl fell 45 feet into the uncovered well while playing yesterday -- the sixth child in India to do so in the past two years.

Three of those children died.

Officials say they will investigate who dug the well and why it was left
uncovered.
