VideoA Desperate Housewives star is talking about a recent trip to Kenya...and how people can help there.

Kathleen Conway reports for InStyle Magazine.

DESPERATE HOUSEWIFE STAR TERI HATCHER IS GIVING BACK TO THE WORLD.  THIS
MONTH'S INSTYLE MAGAZINE FEATURES HER JOURNEY TO AFRICA.

Teri Hatcher recently traveled to Kenya with an organization called America Share, which helps women and children affected by HIV and AIDS.

TERI SPENT MUCH OF HER TWELVE-DAY VISIT TOURING ORPHANAGES.  SHE SAYS THE EXPERIENCE CHANGED HER LIFE.

During one of Teri's trips to an orphanage, a little girl came up next to her, held her hand and walked next to her throughout the entire tour.

The little girl then jumped into her arms, and Teri couldn't believe how light the girl was.

HATCHER'S HOPE IS THAT HER WORK IS MAKING A DIFFERENCE FOR THAT LITTLE GIRL AND ALL THE OTHER ORPHANS' LIVES.

Teri's daughter, Emerson Rose, went with her on the trip and before leaving, they planted a tree on a plot where a new orphanage is going to be built.

Teri hopes that one day some of the children will be able read under the shade of the tree, and maybe even carve their initials in the trunk.

During Teri's trip she told us she witnessed a great sense of community and pride, but definitely a lack of infrastructure. She said the best thing that we can do is to create new opportunities.
