It was a good day Saturday for the local chapter of the American Heart Association and for those who benefit from their fundraisers.
The Tennessee Valley Start! Heart walk went off with a much better turnout than last year.
About 500 people showed up for the 2.7 mile walk that ended about 11 o'clock at AT&T Field.
Participants were asked to raise a minimum of $100 in pledges to receive an event T-shirt, and an early count showed the walk raised about $153,000.
