Gov. Sonny Perdue Kills Tax Hike Rise in Georgia

|

After Hurricane Katrina.. Georgia's Governor made national headlines by suspending the state gas tax to keep prices in line.

A few weeks ago Governor Perdue said the state couldn't afford to do that again this year.

But on Monday, he did give drivers, farmers and fliers a small price break.

Gov. Perdue says "I have decided to suspend again the collection of the additional sales tax increase. I don't think that the government ought to enjoy windfalls at the expense of citizens when they're hurting in that. We still have great transportation needs and infrastructure needs that we got to look at."

The move will save us about three cents a gallon in taxes beginning July 1st.
