Chattanooga Engineers Club members discussed the fact and fiction about global warming over lunch today.

Dr. George Maul of the Florida Institute of Technology gave a comprehensive argument for what one person in the audience called "Global Re-warming."

Maul's research shows the Earth is warming and sea level is rising in some places, but this is just part of a natural cycle.

"So when people say climate change I always shake my head because that's a natural expectation," Maul said after his seminar.  "Is sea level going up and down? Yes. If you want to look at the worst case scenario for the United States look at the Mississippi Delta, where we're seeing a large amount of influence."

Maul adds the Mississippi Delta is sinking at about a meter per century so a rising sea level is more detrimental there.   Some areas, mainly closer to the poles are rising so a rising sea level does not have much of an impact.
