More than 1-hundred students show up this year for Catoosa county's summer program.

All of them are considered gifted.

And by the end of the program, all of them will have some unique answers to the question, "how did you spend your summer vacation?"

"We're teaching the kids the basics of military strategy," explains Lafayette High School Teacher Joel Warren.  "They're enjoying it. They're loving it. They can't wait to come back the next day."

This is the 5th year of the summer camp for gifted students.

Kids range from 1st grade all the way up to 6th.

To take part in the camp, they go through an eligibility process, and get recommended by their teachers, according to Dr. Su Vining of Westside Elementary school.

"We have a class on putting the puzzle pieces together, they're exploring Sedukah puzzles, hand grams, all kinds of mazes and mystery's."

It's not just the students that benefit.

The teachers have spent the last year training to receive their endorsement to teach gifted students.

The camp is the final step in that process.

The summer camp only lasts for four days.

But organizers hope the lessons, and the friendships will last much longer.

It's fun to do this with friends," points out Boynton Elementary Student Abby Smith.  "People I've never known, and now I made friends for camp, so I have somebody, some people to talk to when I'm nervous and everything."
