Residents in Georgia's cities go to the polls Tuesday.

WDEF News 12 is previewing those elections by asking reporters at the local papers which races are getting the most attention...

In Trenton it's the race for city police commissioner...

Incumbent Commissioner Sandra Grey faces off against challenger Tim Riddle.

Dade County Sentinel Staff Reporter Summer Kelley says the two sides haven't been very vocal, "There has been some people that had talked before the election that they would like to see things change and thought that they would try to move in that direction and try to find a candidate to run against Sandra. But it really has been fairly quiet. I mean there really hasn't been a lot, a lot done."

Kelley says as of last Tuesday only 40 early voting ballots were cast.

In Varnell the mayor's race is attracting attention...

Incumbent Dan Peeples faces former city council member Bill Morgan.

Dalton Daily Citizen Staff Writer Charles Oliver says the two also squared off during last year's special election to fill the mayor's seat, "The candidates have been pretty respectful of each other, not a lot of mud slinging. But unfortunately some of their supporters, I think it's a minority, but it's a very vocal minority have made it a very nasty race."

In Cohutta the race for mayor is missing a candidate...

Incumbent Don Henderson has held the office for 4 decades.

He faces national guardsman Wesley Mahan, who is currently serving in Afghanistan and is not expected back to the state for a few months.
