Georgia and North Carolina Prepare for Drought Crisis, Water Restrictions Expected

The drought in the southeast is beginning to make national headlines.
Here is the latest Drought monitor map.
We're still in the center of the worst drought conditions in the country.
But this week the "exceptional" drought category spreads into North Carolina.
In fact now a quarter of the southeast is in an exceptional drought.
That news spurred the Governor of North Carolina to take action on Monday.
He laid out a series of steps to conserve water in the state.
The governor wants all outdoor watering to stop immediately.
Also stop washing cars.
And finally he has banned outdoor burning.. because they can't afford to use water to put out the fires.
Gov. Mike Easley/North Carolina: "Several communities have as little as a three months water supply remaining.. The simple fact is that if we do not get significant rain over the winter, we're going to have problems in the spring of 2008."
Governor Easley is asking for voluntary action now to avoid a crisis next spring.
Meanwhile... Georgia residents are anxiously waiting for the next round of water restrictions that could hit the Atlanta area hard.
Under state guidelines.. The next step is restricting commercial and industrial use of water.. Which could hit Coca Cola.
Then restrict farming...And finally limit personal use.
The catch is how do you enforce such restrictions?
The head of the E-P-D will present the Governor with options in the next two weeks.
moron humanity
it's the uncontrolled breeding of useless eaters, nothing else. This Globe can only support so many Morons,we have exceeded those numbers.
Water
Its finally come to the point that we don`t have enough water for us and illegals too..Think of all the water we`d save if all illegals were sent home. I don`t think we`d be in that much trouble with water supplies diminishing if thousands..millions, weren`t using that supply. When will people see that we can`t that on the whole world and still survive our selves.
A lot of people will poo-poo this way of looking at this situation but just think about it! The immigration problem is a strain on all of our resourses , water being one of them. When its gone , its gone.
Water restrcitons
Some localities already have restrictions that are being enforced by monetary fines. I was told of two cases. One was fined for watering shrubs and the other for washing a car. This was in a town that already has one dry resevoir. I mean completely dry-a grassy field. These people are surely not thinking or at least not in a good state of awareness.
I talked to some people today who don't seem to know anything about the drought. This is unbelievable. It seems somewhat like the Katrina situation. True, we cannot make it rain, but we can all, each and every one, use much less water helping to lengthen the time our water in storage will last. We are expecting rain where I live today. It will be a joyous sight.
water restrictions
We need to enforce the restrictions now and not wait until we have 1 month left or anything like that. Also do patrols every day and hand out tickets for large amounts of money to those who dont follow the rules.

Compounding a drought of
Compounding a drought of biblical proportions is the LUNACY of the federal government requiring Georgia to flush billions of gallons of water downstream so some damn mollusk wont die! Up to me, we'd be boiling the things in beer and eating them.
