First Tier 1 Volkswagen Supplier Breaks Ground at Enterprise South

The first Tier 1 Volkswagen supplier breaks ground at the Enterprise South site.

The Gestamp Corp. is clearing land near the Volkswagen plant for its own $90 Million facility.

The company has a long standing relationship as a VW supplier and plans to create 230 jobs.

Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce President Tom Edd Wilson calls the Gestamp ground breaking the first of many, "It's another step of particularly Tier 1s and 2s coming here. Companies that will have a direct supply line to the Volkswagen plant, that's got to be close."

Wilson says construction on the Gestamp facilities will likely begin immediately.
