TVA employee Denita McCulley, "We've been scraping windows and priming and painting, just trying to help out where we can."
Guy Bilyeu, These TVA employees have been coming here for a few years now. They know our facility well, they know what we're trying to do, so they come here and they're excited about working hard to make it better for us. They save us money, it makes it nice for our animals, luckily they usually go home with a few too."
Thirty four agencies benefit from the project. The Day of Caring gives employees a chance to volunteer at the agency of their choice, and the agency gets an infusion of help. At this Habitat For Humanity house, TVA workers got a lesson in homebuilding.
Gabriel Franceschi, "I think it's important for us to go not only change lives but transform lives. Helping Alexis the homeowner develop a foundation for her family."
Day of CaringDay of CaringVolunteer director Linda Sneary says they always need extra hands. Sneary, "It's a blessing it does give us an extra day to work, to get a lot done with a large group."
Many of these employees say the hard work is well worth it.
McCulley, "You never know when you might need the agency for whatever reason, you might need their services."
On Saturday, U.S. Postal Service employees will help out local agencies.
