Fast Start for Bradley County Electronics Recycling Program

Bradley County’s computer and electronic recycling program has exceeded expectations according to Bradley County Mayor Gary Davis. Davis launched the drop-off recycling program on October 5th. “We expected it would take about 90 days for the public to begin to actively participate. However, in the first 5 weeks we have filled 9 containers which hold 1500 pounds each. That means we have diverted 13,500 pounds of old electronics from the Bradley County landfill,” Mayor Davis said.
Mayor Davis noted that several businesses as well as individuals have taken advantage of the program. Recently Bradley County’s Information Technology Director Mike Sullivan recycled a truck load of the County’s old and outdated computers, printers and keyboards.

The list of accepted electronics for recycling include: Desktop Computers, Fax Machines, Diodes, Laptop Computers, Electronic Games, Terminals, Keyboards, Power & Network Cables, Rechargeable Batteries, Printers, Computer Mouse, Scanners, Copy Machines, VCRs, Stereos, Radios, Mainframes, Network Hubs, Switching Boxes, Controllers, Modems, Docking Stations, CD Roms, Hard Drives, Peripherals, Military Equipment, Electronic Medical Equipment, Telecommunications Equipment, Office and Banking Equipment.
Unfortunately, this program cannot accept televisions or computer monitors (CRTs).
