Hamilton County High Schools Part of Full Year Math, English Study

It seems like a no brainer.  If you take a few months off from studying Math and English, it's harder to pick it back up again.  Some Hamilton County high schools will soon put that theory to the test, as part of a federal study aimed at improving graduation rates.

Dalton State Students Rally At Capitol For Education Funding

     Georgia college students gathered at the state capitol Monday to rally against cutting the education budget.

     About 30 Dalton State students made the trip because they're worried budget cuts that could lead to higher tuition, fees, and fewer professors.

Howard High Parents, Graduates Plan to Fight Possible State Takeover

There's fallout tonight from Tennessee's efforts to grab more federal money for schools.  "Race to the Top" legislation approved earlier this year would give the state's commissioner of education the funds needed to create a special school district.  Howard High School in Hamilton County would be included in that district.

Hamilton County Schools Launch Teach/Here, Teacher Residency Program

A first of its kind teacher residency program in Tennessee will be launched in Hamilton and Knox counties.  It aims to tackle a shortage of math and science teachers, by supplementing graduate school work, with coaching for perspective teachers.
