Early Voting Underway in Tennessee for August 7 State Primaries/Local Elections
The polls are open across Tennessee today in advance of the August 7th state primaries and local elections.
In addition to primaries for U.S. Senate, Congress, and the Tennessee legislature, Hamilton County voters will elect a sheriff to fill the term of convicted former Sheriff Billy Long.
They will also choose three school board members.
Hamilton County has three locations for people to participate in the two-week early voting period.
But not everyone turned out this morning to vote, Tripp Mouron of Chattanooga came to register for the first time, "Most of my friends are already registered to vote. Actually I am one of the younger ones. So, I don't know if they will vote in this election, but they certainly will vote in the presidential election. I'm excited. I want to see maybe I can actually make a difference this time, I don't know."
Early voting hours at the Hamilton County election commission off Amnicola Highway run from 8:00 until 6:00 Monday through Friday and 9:00 until 6:00 on Saturdays.
The satellite locations at Northgate Mall and the Brainerd Recreation Center are open from 10:00 until 6:00 Monday through Saturday.
