kChattanooga's southside comes alive for the second time this year for Cookin' on the Quarter.

The local band Leavin' Miss Blue was first to take the stage, followed by tonight's headliner David Lee Murphy.

Festivities help raise money for a permanent music stage at the Tennessee Pavilion.

Chattanooga's Humane Educational Society was also part of tonight's event raising money for their own cause.

For $15 dog owners attending the show could leave their animal pals with a dog sitter at the nearby canine park.

Donations go toward the Humane Society's getting to zero campaign meant to stop euthanasia in Hamilton County.

Community Outreach Manager Jeanine Cloyd says, "It's a really good thing to do because people aren't going to know unless we're talking to them and different events bring in different people and so we're hoping we can get to everyone in different ways and different events like this."

The Cooking on the Quarter musical event was inspired by the Tennessee state coin which features the three major types of music in the state bluegrass, country and blues.
