April 21st, 2002: The homicide units arrive at 8 in the morning to 2301 East 17th street. Inside the home, police find a murder scene.

"An anonymous caller from a coin phone said that there was a body inside the house here at the corner of 17th and South Lyery," stated Chattanooga Police Officer Craig Joel at the crime scene six years ago. "We investigated and found not one, but two murder victims. Apparently they died of gunshot wounds."

Police later learned the identity of the victims: 31-year old Michael Dewayne Scott, and 20-year old Khalil Nuriddin.

Khalil  Nuriddin had only been staying at the home of Michael Scott for about a week.

Scott had been in trouble with the law before. Police called the home where he lived very busy, with a lot of traffic, and potential criminal activity going on inside.

Sgt. Bill Phillips of the Chattanooga Police Department notes, "There was what was suspected to be drug and prostitution activity around this house late at night, into the early morning hours. "

On the night before police discovered the bodies, different neighbors heard gunshots in the area at different times. Some reported hearing gunshots the night of April 20th. Others reported hearing shots ring out in the early morning hours of the 21st.

But one neighbor may have seen something that could hold the key to the case.

That person saw an unidentified skinny white female standing on the back porch of the house on the morning of April 21st.

"She's standing on the back porch sometime after the people were killed, and before the police got there, so she is obviously someone that we would love to speak with," says Sgt. Phillips.

Cold case detectives hope to drum up publicity for the case, and get people talking about it,  and finally solve this double murder from six years ago.
