There's a new roller coaster in the Southeast.. Just in time for the Fourth of July Holiday weekend.
And this one is looking down on us all.
The Cliffhanger roller coaster opened for business this week at Ghost Town in the Sky.
The theme park is located in Maggie Valley.. In the North Carolina mountains.
Coaster afficionados say this is the only ride of it's kind in the world.
You start downhill.. On the side of a mountain.
Speeds get up to 56 miles an hour.
Ride enthusiast say this is the only coaster of its kind in the world which starts downhill and is located literally on the side of Buck Mountain with top speeds of 56 miles per hour.
Steve Shiver\Ghost Town in the Sky:
"It is absolutely exciting. Just to hear people as they scream going through the loop, it's just amazing."
James Barnhill\Visitor: "Well, I got the record on the drop tower up there for 200 times in one day so I wanted to get it for this, for the past three years."
Ghost Valley is counting on the new attraction to pull them out of the red.
The theme park filed for bankruptcy protection in March.
