Marion county school officials have called off class for the rest of this week.
Officials tell us that absentees ran into the hundreds on Wednesday in local schools... about 15% of the student population.
Students are off all next week for fall break, so officials hope the long holiday will break the flu cycle.
And that's also behind Cleveland's decision to extend their fall break next week.
The holiday was supposed to begin next Wednesday.
Instead, Cleveland schools will close all week, beginning Monday.
